INFOGRAPHIC: Philippine Spanish

Philippine Spanish also known as Español Filipino or Castellano Filipino is a variant of standard Spanish spoken uniquely in the Philippines. Since the early 1900s, the language has lost most of its speakers mainly due to wars, and the imposition of English as an official language. At present, the number of Filipino native speakers of Spanish is at a minimum and it might be now close to disappearing.

Note: Chavacano (a Spanish creole), as presented here, only serves to visualize its number of speakers compared to Philippine Spanish
